We believe every breeding dog deserves a life filled with love, stability, and family connection.
Guardian Home Program
At Cavoodle Cottage, our Guardian Home Program allows us to place select breeding dogs into loving family homes where they are raised as cherished pets while still contributing to our ethical breeding program.
What is a Guardian Home?
A guardian home is a family that welcomes one of our carefully selected breeding dogs into their home and treats them as their own much-loved pet. While the dog remains part of the Cavoodle Cottage breeding program, they live a normal, happy family life surrounded by love, stability, and everyday home routines.
What are guardian homes responsible for?
Guardian families are responsible for all normal day-to-day pet expenses, including food, grooming, training, and general veterinary care. Cavoodle Cottage covers all breeding-related costs, including reproductive health testing, breeding procedures, and any expenses directly related to the breeding program.
What are the requirements for being a guardian home?
Guardian homes must be located within 1 hour of Banora Point, NSW to ensure we can safely manage health checks, breeding logistics, and care when required. Homes must not have any other undesexed dogs living in the household. We also require homes with no internal stairs, or alternatively a willingness to follow strict guidelines regarding stair access during critical developmental stages. Families must also be willing to assist with travel or veterinary visits when needed as part of the breeding program.
What is the difference between a male and female guardian dog?
Male guardian dogs typically remain with their family full-time, with only short periods away from home when needed for breeding. These visits may sometimes occur at short notice, and males generally remain in the breeding program for approximately five years.
Female guardian dogs remain with their families but will spend short periods away for mating before returning home for pregnancy. As they approach whelping, they come to Cavoodle Cottage where they stay through birth and raise their puppies until they are weaned at around six weeks of age, after which they return home. Females remain in the breeding program until they have had up to three litters or reach approximately five years of age, whichever comes first. In some cases, early desexing may be recommended if it is in the best interest of the dog’s health and wellbeing.

Testimonial
“Personal Testimony for Cavoodle Cottage I’m the proud guardian of a beautiful Cavoodle named Alby from Cavoodle Cottage. When I decided to welcome a Cavoodle into my life, from this breeder was knowing they are genuinely committed to responsible, ethical breeding and raising puppies with lifelong wellbeing in mind. I visited their family home and loved what I saw. The puppies weren’t kept in a kennel — they were raised right in the heart of the family, surrounded by daily life, gentle handling, children, and lots of positive experiences. Even as a young pup, Alby was confident, affectionate, and had such a lovely happy temperament. It was clear he was getting the very best start possible. The breeders were thoughtful and transparent every step of the way. They carefully plan their litters with health, temperament, and family suitability as the highest priorities. They asked plenty of questions about my home and lifestyle to ensure Alby would be a great match, and they’ve remained supportive with advice and follow-ups ever since I brought him home. Today, Alby is a happy, healthy, and wonderfully balanced dog who brings so much joy to my life. His affectionate nature and adaptability are a direct result of the loving, enriched environment he was raised in at Cavoodle Cottage. I wholeheartedly recommend Cavoodle Cottage to anyone looking for a Cavoodle. They don’t just breed puppies — they raise them as cherished family members with real care, ethics, and dedication to their lifelong happiness.”
